On September 16th, we had the privilege of sponsoring Vitae’s Pro-Life Fundraiser in Dallas, Texas—a powerful evening that celebrated life, love, and the courage to change culture.
The Vitae Foundation, founded by Carl Landwehr, has reshaped the pro-life movement through its pioneering research into the psychological dynamics behind abortion decisions. Rather than relying on political rhetoric or confrontation, Vitae’s “Pro-Woman Approach” uses compassion, understanding, and strategic communication to reach women in crisis. This shift has reverberated worldwide, with organizations like Heartbeat International, Care Net, 40 Days for Life, Students for Life, and many others adopting Vitae’s model across 17 countries.
Brandon Tatum: A Powerful Testimony of Choosing Life
The evening’s keynote speaker, Brandon Tatum, a former police officer and national conservative voice, shared deeply personal stories that moved the audience. His grandmother, who gave birth to his mother at just 12 years old, chose life against all odds. Brandon himself also faced a life-altering moment in college when he learned he would be a father. Though tempted by fear and uncertainty, he and his girlfriend (now wife) chose life for his son.
For years, men have been taught to say, “I’ll support you in whatever you decide.” But that places the entire weight of the decision on the woman and leaves her feeling as if she has only one option. What he should say is, “I will support your choice for life, and I’ll be here to love and care for our baby.”
Reflecting on these experiences, Tatum said:
“This is why I’m so passionate about encouraging women and supporting them to actually give life—because you never know what God has for you on the other side of it. You never know the lessons He’s going to give you because you decided to do the right thing. If we as a society spent more time encouraging women and supporting them through it, more women would have their child and live a happy, successful life.
It is the fear and pressures of society that make young women feel like they have to have abortions. But in reality, a lot of times the baby is a setup—for you to be successful. For you to raise the next generation of great men and women who are going to change society forever.”
One Act of Courage Can Change a Culture
Brandy Meeks, President of Vitae Foundation, echoed this call during her remarks:
“It takes the courage of one person to begin a trajectory that can change the culture forever. Like Brandon shared about his own situation, we need men who lead. We need men who stand up and say, ‘I’ve got you. I’ve got your back. We’re in this together.’ It’s such a beautiful and powerful thing. If we work together, I truly believe we can save lives and make abortion unthinkable in our lifetime.”
