Patriot Mobile was honored to sponsor Vitae Foundation’s Pro-Life Dinner on September 22, joining supporters of an organization taking a unique, research-driven approach to building a culture of life.
Research on Men and Unexpected Pregnancy
Vitae Foundation uses research to develop compassionate, effective pro-life messaging that helps make abortion unthinkable. After years of studying the experiences of women facing unexpected pregnancies, Vitae expanded its work to examine the role men play in abortion decisions.
Vitae President and CEO Brandy Meeks explained that many men believe the most supportive response is, “I’ll support you no matter what you choose.” Yet women in Vitae’s research who had experienced abortion said those words sometimes left them feeling alone with the weight of the decision.
When Vitae shared that finding with men, Meeks said many were surprised and wanted to know how they could offer more meaningful support. The research points toward a response that combines reassurance with commitment: “I’m here. I will help you raise our child. We will do this together.”
“Real compassion looks like showing up for each other,” Meeks said. That support might include connecting a woman with a local pregnancy resource center, helping her continue her education, or addressing practical concerns about raising a child.
Vitae also found that men’s fears about finances and their ability to provide can shape how they respond. “If we can help him know what to say, we change the conversation,” Meeks said. “If we can give him the confidence he needs to step into that role, we save lives.”
Studying Fathers’ Healing After Abortion
At the dinner, Vitae announced that its next study will focus on men’s emotional experiences after abortion and what may help them heal.
Meeks shared accounts of fathers who described grief or regret years later. Some said they felt they had no voice in the decision and no place to process what happened afterward. The new research aims to better understand those experiences so men, too, can be met with compassion and support.
Riley Gaines Speaks on Motherhood and Defending Life
Keynote speaker Riley Gaines shared how becoming a mother made her pro-life convictions more personal. She described hearing her daughter’s heartbeat during an early ultrasound, watching her develop throughout pregnancy, and holding her for the first time.
“Becoming a mom, it’s made this issue, the issue of defending life, our most basic rights as human beings, it made it really personal and it made it necessary and it made it urgent,” Gaines said.
Drawing on her experience as a collegiate swimmer, Gaines encouraged attendees to speak up for their convictions, support women in practical ways, and call men to take responsibility.
Patriot Mobile’s Support for Vitae Foundation
Patriot Mobile Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Danielle Buck opened the evening by sharing why the partnership matters to Patriot Mobile.
“At Patriot Mobile, being pro-life isn’t something that we just say or something that we sponsor. It is something that we do, and it’s something that we live and breathe,” Buck said. She credited Patriot Mobile customers with making that support possible: “The more that we grow, the more that we can give, the more that we can save babies across this whole country.”
Vitae’s research offers the pro-life movement a deeper understanding of the women and men facing these decisions and ways to reach them with compassion and practical support. Patriot Mobile is grateful to stand alongside Vitae Foundation in its work to protect unborn life and build a culture of life.
