Yes, these types of cost recovery fees are common across the wireless industry and have been for many years. They may be called different names by other wireless providers. Some examples include Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge, a Regulatory Programs Fee or an Administrative and Recovery Charge.
Note that Patriot Mobile has only recently (as of February 28, 2023) began assessing Regulatory Compliance Recovery and Administrative Cost Recovery Fees despite the fact most of our competitors have been charging these fees for many years. We only made the decision to assess these fees as a result of the unprecedented inflation we are experiencing in our country which has resulted in higher operating costs for Patriot Mobile.
The Regulatory Compliance Recovery and Administrative Cost Recovery Fees are applied to each line on your Patriot Mobile account. For clarity, each of these fees are listed separately from your plan pricing on your monthly bill.
The Regulatory Administrative Cost Recovery Fee of 1.49% and a Compliance Recovery Fee of 3.11% of the plan’s listed price for each line associated with your account.
For example:
Regulatory Compliance Recovery Fee: 3.11 % * $35 = $1.0875
Administrative Cost Recovery Fee: 1.49% * $35 = $0.5215
Total increase to customer bill for this line = $1.609
Regulatory Compliance Recovery Fee: 3.11% * $50 = $1.555
Administrative Cost Recovery Fee: 1.49% * $50 = $0.745
Total increase to customer bill for this line = $2.30
Patriot Mobile only began assessing the Regulatory Compliance Recovery and Administrative Cost Recovery Fees on February 28, 2023.
